Lazy, Crazy, and Disgusting: Stigma and the Undoing of Global Health (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019) is an exploration of how stigma has been used as a public health tool and how this has effected peoples at the margins of society. Through examples of public health programs on sanitation, obesity, and mental illness, the authors provide evidence that the stigma created by these programs negatively affects community health. An argument is made for the elimination of stigma within public health programs to promote global social justice.
